The Second Secret

The Second Secret, Life finds a way.

This is a follow up to my painting, The First Secret, and the plan was always for it to be part of a series. When I started the original work I made a decision to concentrate on just one character and come back and explore other ideas at a later date.

The connecting theme is a beautiful and mysterious place close to the village of Montsegur in the French Pyrenees, and the myth, history, and folklore of the area. The reindeer and the horse are linked for me by cave art in the Niaux Cave, not too far away, which is reproduced in the painting. 
For me this is a painting about time, seasons, and the natural rhythms of nature.
