This was a painting I had half finished for years. I wanted to do something based around the mythology connected to the dog days of summer and I wanted it to have cats in it. Last year I visited Italy and saw this mountain, which is called Monte Viso. The pyramid shape, the weather, and the Egyptian associations of nearby Turin inspired me to incorporate the mountain and Aker in the form of Duaj and Sefer.
